Iceland: Land of Fire and Ice

If we take away one Icelandic habit, it would be breakfast in candlelight. We arrived groggy from our flight in the pitch black of night (7am). Afternoon check-in seemed an eternity away. Solution: skyr and oat flat whites at Kaktus Espressobar over candlelight, eavesdropping on earnest conversations in the corner. The night felt velvety, and we wanted to stay inside and read all day.

We watched the sun rise over the lake beginning to freeze over (it appears that we brought a deep arctic chill with us). At The National Museum of Iceland we learned about Iceland’s Viking origins. I was inspired by a creatively titled, “What I Saw In Iceland” and realized that if someone in the 19th century can make time for a travel blog, so can I.
